A distinguished and enthusiastic teacher, many of Gil’s past students have gone on to win first prizes in National and International Piano Competitions, plus in local Eisteddfods.
Some of his teaching positions and residencies include the Seoul Art School and Ewha Women’s University – Korea; Chiao Tung University, and The Art Center of The National Sun Yat-Sen University – Taiwan; Hanoi Conservatory – Vietnam; The Hong Kong Institute of Education; TAFE and the Elder Conservatorium of Music – S.A.; University of W.A. and the W.A. Academy of Music; the Charles Darwin University; the Victorian College of the Arts;.
He has also lectured at the Royal Academy of Music, given masterclasses at London’s Royal Academy, Royal College, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dance. In the U.S., South Carolina University, and Chico University – Sacramento. In 2003 Gil gave his lecture-recital on Mozart’s piano works at Oxford University, while more recently, taught at the Australian National Academy of Music.
For 3 years, he reviewed for the London-published International Journal for Music Education, published in London, with a worldwide readership of over 50 countries.
As an adjudicator, Gil was a permanent jury member for the Cochran International Piano Competition, based in Warsaw Poland. In 2024, he was the adjudicator for the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition in Townsville – Queensland., and has adjudicated for many Eisteddfods around Australia.
